Vào lúc 9h30 sáng Chúa Nhật, ngày 11.01.2026, Lễ Chúa Giê-su chịu phép rửa, thánh lễ nhậm chức của Cha Phaolô Trần Trung Dzung, OP., do Đức Tổng Giám Mục Richard Smith chủ sự. Hiện diện trong Thánh lễ hôm nay có Quý Cha, và toàn thể cộng đoàn Giáo xứ thánh Giuse – Vancouver.
Trong phần chia sẻ Lời Chúa, Đức Tổng Giám mục R. Smith đã quảng diễn ý nghĩa ngày lễ Chúa Giê-su chịu phép rửa cùng với ngày lễ nhậm chức của Cha Phao-lô. Ngài nói: “Việc chúng ta có cơ hội suy tư về Bí tích Rửa Tội đúng vào lúc cha Paul Tran được nhậm chức làm linh mục chánh xứ của anh chị em quả thật là sự quan phòng của Thiên Chúa, bởi vì sứ mạng mà cha Paul Tran lãnh nhận hôm nay với tư cách là mục tử của anh chị em chính là: dẫn dắt anh chị em, là dân trung thành của Thiên Chúa, sống trọn vẹn ơn gọi phát xuất từ Bí tích Rửa Tội của mình.”
Trong phần còn lại của bài giảng, Đức Tổng Giám Mục tiếp tục quảng diễn sự liên kết ba bài đọc đối với căn tính của người Ki-tô hữu khi lãnh nhận bí tích Rửa tội. Và ngài kết luận: “Một môn đệ đã chịu phép rửa tội của Chúa Giêsu Kitô là một môn đệ truyền giáo của Chúa Giêsu Kitô. Trong Chúa Giêsu, chúng ta có một căn tính – những người con của Chúa Cha trên trời; và chúng ta có một sứ mệnh – trở thành chứng nhân của sự bình an và công lý mà Chúa Kitô đến để mang lại cho chúng ta”.
Sau phần bài giảng là những nghi thức: đọc thư bổ nhiệm, tuyên hứa. Sau đó, Đức Tổng Giám Mục dẫn Cha Tân chánh xứ đến ghế chủ tọa, giếng Rửa Tội, tòa Giải Tội và Nhà Tạm.
Thánh Lễ tiếp tục với phần Phụng vụ Thánh Thể và khép lại với niềm hân hoan vui mừng và tạ ơn Thiên Chúa.
Sau lời nguyện hiệp lễ, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Mục vụ giáo xứ thay lời cho toàn thể cộng đoàn dâng lời cảm ơn Đức Tổng Giám mục R. Smith, Quý Cha đồng tế và toàn thể cộng đoàn đã sốt sắng hiệp dâng Thánh lễ cầu nguyện cho Cha tân chánh xứ.

INSTALLATION MASS OF REV. PAUL TRAN TRUNG DZUNG, O.P. – NEW PASTOR OF ST. JOSEPH PARISH, VANCOUVER
At 9:30 am on Sunday 11.01.2026, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the Installation Mass of Rev. Paul Tran Trung Dzung, O.P., as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Vancouver, was solemnly celebrated, with Archbishop Richard Smith presiding. Concelebrating at the Mass were numerous priests, together with the full participation of the parish community of St. Joseph, Vancouver.
In his homily, Archbishop Richard Smith reflected on the profound meaning of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord in connection with the installation of Fr. Paul. He stated:
“The opportunity to reflect upon our Baptism while Father Paul Tran is installed as your parish priest is providential, because the mission Fr Paul Tran assumes today as your pastor is, precisely, to lead you, the faithful people of God, to live out your baptismal calling.”
The Archbishop further expounded on the relationship among the three Scripture readings and their significance for Christian identity received through Baptism. He concluded:
“A baptized disciple of Jesus Christ is a missionary disciple of Jesus Christ. In Jesus, we have an identity — as sons and daughters of our heavenly Father; and we have a mission — agents of the peace and justice that Christ came to bring.”
Following the homily, the Rite of Installation took place, including the reading of the letter of appointment and the profession of faith and promises. The Archbishop then led the newly installed pastor to the presider’s chair, the baptismal font, the confessional, and the tabernacle, highlighting the central pastoral responsibilities entrusted to him.
The Holy Mass continued with the Liturgy of the Eucharist and concluded in a spirit of joy, thanksgiving, and praise to God.
After the Prayer after Communion, the Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council, on behalf of the entire parish community, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop Richard Smith, the concelebrating priests, and all present for their prayerful participation in the Eucharistic celebration offered for the newly installed pastor.
